Here is our list of external resources surrounding youth mental health and support that we believe may be helpful. 

ConnecTeen (Calgary)

Teen and Youth Mental Health Helpline in Calgary

​

ConnecTeen is a confidential peer support helpline for youth. Whether you are dealing with relationship issues, family problems, bullying, stress, something more complex, or even if you just need to talk with someone, ConnecTeen is there to help. Everything you share with them is completely confidential. 

​

Peer support is available from 3pm - 10pm on weekdays, and from 12pm - 10pm on weekends. Adult volunteers are available outside of these hours, so ConnecTeen here for you 24/7.

The Alex - Youth Health Centre (Calgary)

A centre all about supporting youth from the ages of 12 - 24.

​

The Alex Youth Health Centre offers an array of support and social care. They have a team of doctors, nurses, and social workers that are available to help with the following things:

​

- Harm reduction supplies and support

- Mental health support (16+)

- Same day counselling (appointment or walk-in)

- Longer term counselling

- Medical care

- Pharmacy services

- LGBTQ2S+ support

- Justice navigation

- Basic needs support

- ID document support

- Prenatal and parenting programs

- Sexual health support (STI testing and treatment, pregnancy testing and options, contraception)

Kids Help Phone (Canada)

Kids Help Phone offers mental health support and services to youth in Canada. 

​

They are non-judgmental and inclusive. You can contact Kids Help Phone for support with any issue, whether it is big or small. They are a great resource if you are struggling with bullying, abuse, friend or family issues, your emotional wellbeing, and more.

9-8-8 (Canada)

9-8-8 is a suicide crisis helpline.

​

This helpline is available for everyone in Canada, no matter their age or location. If you or someone you know is dealing with thoughts of suicide, you can call or text 988 for free and confidential support. This helpline is available 24 hours a day, every day of the week. Support is available in English or French. All calls and texts to 9-8-8 are confidential and private - however, a trained responder may be required to disclose your phone number or other information to emergency/community services if they believe that you or others are in danger.

TWLOHA Mental Health Toolkit

TWLOHA is a non-profit movement that is dedicated to helping people find hope and help when they are struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide.

Their mental health toolkit offers mental health exercises that are tailored for each persons specific needs. There are guided videos from licensed therapists, grounding techniques, curated playlists, affirmations, stories of hope, as well as a self care app where you can journal, track your mood, and receive encouragement. This toolkit contains something for everyone - whether you need assistance building mental health resilience, understanding your thoughts and emotions, or recognizing your internal experiences.

Life Synergy For Youth

Life Synergy For Youth is a Pre-crisis Intervention Action Plan Program (PI APP) that travels to schools and works with students from grade 4 to 12. They have multiple different programs that discuss a variety of issues - these include: bullying, body image, suicide, drama/gossip, the dangers of substance use, and more.
